Nine years in prison. For gang rape. Robinho no longer serves them in Italy, but in a Brazilian cell.

The events go back to 2013, in a Milan nightclub. A 22-year-old Albanian woman. A group of men, including the AC Milan striker. Italian justice would establish a group sexual assault. Wiretaps, in which the player comments on the night, would weigh heavily at trial.

Robinho contests. Appeals. Loses

. The nine-year prison sentence is upheld all the way to Italy's highest court.

But the man had gone home. To Brazil. And the Brazilian Constitution bars the country from extraditing its own citizens. For years, the former star believes himself out of reach, shielded by a border.

The victim waits. Italian justice keeps pushing. Eleven years separate the night in Milan from the cell. Eleven years for a conviction to become real.

In 2024, everything shifts. The Brazilian courts agree to enforce on home soil the sentence handed down in Italy. A tribunal signs off. Robinho, once the jewel of Real Madrid, an idol in the stands, is taken to prison in his own country.

The kid from Santos who once made the Maracana dream. The striker who wore the shirts of Real and Milan. The same man, now behind bars.

He thought going home would save him. Home ended up judging him.
