Veteran Nigerian musician John Asiemo, popularly known as Daddy Showkey, has recalled a frightening incident when suspected assassins invaded his home looking for him but ended up shooting one of his workers after mistaking him for his personal bouncer.

Speaking during an interview with The Podcast Network, Daddy Showkey explained that the incident happened on a morning when he had arranged for all his vehicles to be taken for servicing. He said he personally drove the final car out of his compound shortly before the attackers arrived.

According to the musician, the suspected assassins entered his residence while he was away and encountered his children inside the compound. They reportedly asked about his whereabouts before proceeding further into the house in search of him.

Daddy Showkey said the attackers then came across one of his workers, who was physically large. Believing the man was the musician’s bouncer and possibly an obstacle to their mission, they reportedly opened fire on him at close range.

He explained that the worker was shot directly in the chest during the attack. Daddy Showkey said he was not at home when the incident occurred and only learned what had happened after the attackers had left the property.

The musician recalled that he immediately instructed those around him to rush the injured worker to a hospital for medical attention. Despite efforts to save his life, however, the victim sadly died from the injuries he sustained.

Daddy Showkey said his children later explained that the attackers had initially appeared to be there to play in the compound, but they did not recognize anyone who had arrived with them or understand their intentions at the time.

Recounting the terrifying encounter, he said the attackers saw the large-built worker inside the house and assumed he was his bouncer. That mistaken assumption, he explained, led them to shoot the man in the chest while searching for him.
