IN ENUGU...Nigerian Troops Arrest Fulani Kidnap Syndicate Commander, Recover Four AK-47 Rifles, Ammunition ENUGU, Nigeria – Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected commander of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered a large cache of weapons in Enugu State. The operation was carried out by soldiers from the 82 Division Joint Task Force, Operation UDO KA, working together with the Department of State Services (DSS). The suspect, identified as Babuga Abubakar Usman, a native of Kebbi State, was arrested in the Gariki General Area of Enugu State while trying to flee. According to the Army, troops tracked him down after getting important information from two suspects who were arrested in an earlier operation. During a follow-up search at the Umuchingu Ujenike Forest in Udi Local Government Area, troops found: · Four AK-47 rifles · Seven AK-47 magazines · 133 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition · $1,000 US dollars and ₦785,900 in cash Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni said the arrest is linked to the kidnapping of two people in Udi Local Government Area on August 2, 2026. He added that the suspect is connected to several kidnapping operations across the South-East and North-Central regions. The Army said the suspect is currently being questioned to help locate and arrest other members of the syndicate.

According to the Army, troops tracked him down after getting important information from two suspects who were arrested in an earlier operation.

During a follow-up search at the Umuchingu Ujenike Forest in Udi Local Government Area, troops found:

· Four AK-47 rifles

· Seven AK-47 magazines

· 133 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition

· $1,000 US dollars and ₦785,900 in cash

Army spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni said the arrest is linked to the kidnapping of two people in Udi Local Government Area on August 2, 2026. He added that the suspect is connected to several kidnapping operations across the South-East and North-Central regions.

The Army said the suspect is currently being questioned to help locate and arrest other members of the syndicate.
