As at the time Mr. Ojo Ayeni, an Assistant Supritendent Police was leaving for work on Thursday December 30, 2021, little did he know he was on his way to the journey of no return.
What made his situation worse was the manner in which he ended his life. He was crushed to death by a Rapid Response Squad van along Ado-Ijan road, Ado Ekiti.
His wife, Mrs. Angela while narrating how it all happened to punch Newspaper's correspondent in an exclusive interview on Sunday said her husband was riding on a black bike when he was crushed to death.
According to the report, Mr Ayeni was on his way to work along the road when the van occupied by RRS veered from its lane and crushed him on the bike he was riding. Until his death, he was an Assistant Supritendent Police.
According to the wife, it was gathered that the officers were chasing suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo boys when they lost control and killed the ASP. But a statement by the state police command clarified that the Van developed a mechanical fault that led to the incident.
The wife further explained that her husband was not immediately taken to the hospital when the accident happened. If he was, he would have survived the injury. She noted that he was taken to the station instead of being taken to the hospital and by the time they decided on taking him for medical care, he was already dead.
While explaining what happened a day before the incident, Mrs. Angela revealed that her husband had a bad dream which they prayed over that very day.
According to her, after their morning devotion that day before the husband stepped out, he told her that he had dream that appeared scary to him.
Explaining how the dream went, the late Ayeni said that he was in his farm digging heaps. He confirmed that each time he had that kind of dream, someone must die in the family.
The dream really unsettled his wife and they decided to pray agaisnt its possible manifestation. He also promised to call their family house when he returned from work later in the day to find out if anyone had actually died.
Unfortunately, little did the know he was the candidate of the bad dream. He went to work that day but he never returned home. He died in a terrible and tragic way.
ASP Ayeni's body had been deposited at the morgue.
