The North London club said last week they are confident Aubameyang’s issue is not a serious one, but the striker says he is going through ‘problems that are hard to resolve by themselves.’

“We have some problems that are hard to resolve by themselves, then rumours get thrown into the mix.

“We have to look after our health first and foremost. I’m not going to talk about the false rumours and I truly hope our team goes as far as possible,” he tweeted on Monday.

Earlier on Monday, Gabon’s national team manager, Patrice Neveu told Goal that the Arsenal star and his teammate, Nice’s Mario Lemina will undergo further assessments at their clubs.

Since yesterday, the decision was taken to send them home to their club,” Neveu said.

“We can’t judge it here [in Cameroon], we can’t assess the pathology of Covid here.

“It’s important that Mario returns to Nice and Pierre returns to Arsenal.

“It’s a decision that we’ve taken among ourselves.”
