A man who belonged to a kidnapping gang that abducted a pastor in Delta State has met his waterloo while other members of the syndicate escaped arrest just as the sum of N410,000 said to be ransom payment, pistols, cartridges, among others, were recovered in the hotel where the kidnappers lodged in, the state police command announced on Tuesday, January 11.
The member of the gang, whose name was given as Felix Osagie, aged 36 years old, was arrested by operatives of the Oghara Division of the state command following information received that a pastor was kidnapped along with his Lexus 330 SUV along Ibori Road in Oghara in the state.
It was gathered that when the policemen, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), found the vehicle parked along the road in Oghara, they laid ambush and waited for the kidnappers to show up and not long after, three men entered the vehicle and the operatives rounded them up, but two of them escaped while Osagie was not lucky.

According to a statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, posted on the Facebook wall of the command on Tuesday, during his interrogation, he was said to have confessed to being a member of the kidnapping gang that abducted the pastor.
He also led police operatives to the hotel where they lodged (names withheld by me) and upon sighting policemen, two other members of the gang were said to have fled the hotel premises while Osagie led the policemen to the room where he lodged.
According to the statement, when a search was conducted in his hotel room, one double-barrel pistol, six live cartridges and the sum of N410,000 which was part of the N500,000 ransom demanded for the release of the pastor were recovered.

He was also said to have led the operatives to another room in the hotel where the gang members lodged in and another double-barrel pistol, 10 live cartridges and a laptop were recovered. Also recovered was the pastor’s Lexus SUV.
The statement added that Osagie is giving more useful information to the policemen while the police command said a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing members of the kidnapping gang.
