Nigeria assistant coach, Joseph Yobo has said he is pleased with Super Eagles centre-backs, William Troost-Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo, at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.
Troost-Ekong and Omeruo have been solid at the back for Nigeria so far at the 2021 AFCON.
The pair put in a great performance during Nigeria’s opening Group D 1-0 victory against Egypt last Tuesday.
The defenders also put in a masterclass display during Nigeria’s 3-1 win against Sudan at the weekend.
Speaking after Nigeria’s win against Sudan, Yobo told GOAL: “I am very pleased with the central defenders. Players come in and out. It’s a partnership and not all about individual performance.
"This is what we keep working on. In the two games, it was only a penalty that was scored against us.
“It could have been ruled out but we are improving and have some sound players in and out.”
Troost-Ekong and Omeruo are likely to be rested for Nigeria’s final Group D game against Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday.
