The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has busted an industrial-scale methamphetamine lab hidden in Oyo State's forest, arresting five suspects including a Mexican national. The lab, operated by a Nigerian-Mexican cartel, was found in Tapa Village, Ibarapa North Local Government Area, with large quantities of chemicals and equipment.
NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, announced the breakthrough in Abuja, stating the raid was conducted on June 17 following intel reports. The suspects include Mexican Jose Villa Ochoa (56), a meth production expert, and Nigerians Maxwell Uche Nevoh (30), Olatunji Yusuf (37), Bankole Akeem Owolabi (45), and Ganiu Monsiu (43).

“This was a sophisticated, transnational syndicate,” Marwa said. The agency recovered precursor chemicals, industrial equipment, and confirmed.
methamphetamine presence. This follows a similar bust in Ogun State last month, indicating attempts to establish a Southwest synthetic drug hub.
Marwa warned cartels: “Nigeria is not a safe haven for illicit drug operations. We will find you.” The suspects face prosecution as investigations continue.
