Kingmakers Who Would Have A Big Say in Who Becomes Nigeria's President in 2023
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo
Obasanjo was a military Head of State from 1976 to 1979 and later served two terms as civilian president, from 1999 to 2007.
Yar'Adua then became a presidentafter he was allegedly picked by Obasanjo as his successor in 2007 at the expiration of Obasanjo's tenure as president. He equally handpicked Jonathan to serve as Yar'Adua's running mate.
Jonathan succeeded Yar'Adua as President of Nigeria, following Yar'Adua's death in 2010. Before Yar'Adua's death, Obasanjo had supported Jonathan's bid for the presidency, and following Jonathan's victory, Obasanjo was indisposed to withdraw his support for the new administration. However, some time into Jonathan's first term in office, Obasanjo withdrew his support for the administration.
At some point, Olusegun Obasanjo withdrew from belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (APC) and threw his weight behind All Progressives Congress (APC) and showed support to President Muhammadu Buhari before he was announced as the president of Nigeria.
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida

This explains why politicians still flock to his Hilltop Mansion residence in Minna, Niger State, to seek his endorsement for political positions.
