End of Year Message from the Chairman, Dr Titus Obiorah Enuebuka Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
As we mark the first year of our existence as the umbrella unity social cultural organization and think tank vested with the powers to champion, protect and drive sustainable implementation of our development master plan and enforce our social covenants as adopted during NELGA Summit 2020, we give glory to God and express our gratitude to all NELGANs especially those who have continued to participate and support the work of NDA. We need more volunteers to help with this noble work of community development.
As we look to the future, we are encouraged by the success of seeing the dream of this unity initiative come through:
• NDA is now fully incorporated as a legal entity
• We have communicated NDA mission and areas of focus to: NELGA political office holders, regulatory and development agencies and corporations in power and oil and gas sectors as a way of engaging them in development of NELGA
• We have defined our accountability system which is our frame work for holding our public office holders accountable to NELGA
• We are now better positioned to enforce our 13 Point Demand presented to Federal Government of Nigeria.
• Some of our members are driving self help healthcare, infrastructure development and unity initiatives in our communities ie Utchi, Abala Oshimili and others. This tempo will intensify in 2022 as more communities join the trend.
• We have activated our standing committee structure. The standing committees are the driving force of NDA. The committees will now reference the technical papers presented during the summit in their work. We invite volunteers to join the committees that align with their passion
Emboldened by these achievements, we look to 2022 with optimism and hope of a better NELGA. Year 2022 promises more challenges because of the state of the country and inordinate ambitions of selfish and hawkish politicians who fight for what they will get in 2023 elections. NDA is determined to stand its ground in protecting the interest of NELGA by ensuring that we know those who will rise to represent us. The era of individuals rising to power to enrich their pockets and short change NELGA is over. We must all be determined to make this mission a reality. We must fight corruption because it impoverishes our communities and our people. Think about it, all the people that have either been appointed or elected to represent NELGA have too much to show for their individual aggrandizement but NELGA has nothing to show for their tenure of office. This is why we are desolate as a community. This must end. We have inaugurated NDA as a vehicle to change the narrative. Join the effort
2023 is the year of the youths whoever the youths support will be elected because the demographics is in their favor. The youths will have to reject bad candidates, reject rigging, fight corruption and protect their vote. NDA will do everything in its power to mobilize and sensitize the youths to wake up to this responsibility of making their voices heard in elections. We call on NELGANs to unite in the task of improving our politics and ensuring qualitative political representation that will benefit our people.
The harvest is plenty but the workers are few, to achieve our mission, we need more people to volunteer to join NDA. You can do this by simply sending a message ( “I volunteer” ) to Secretary General at +234 802 391 6419
Committees of NDA are:
