IBADAN – Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, described the death of Asigangan of Igangan land, Oba Lasisi Adeoye Lawuyi, Aribiyan yesterday as one death too many.
The late monarch’s death was announced last Tuesday by a Palace source.
Iba Adams, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, said the news of Asigangan’s death was a huge loss to Yoruba land.
“It is very unfortunate that the last 20 days have been traumatic with the death of three of our royal fathers. The death of Oba Lasisi Adeoye Lawuyi the Asigangan of Igangan land is another loss to us”
“We have lost in him the love, the courage, the compassion for his subjects and the entire Ibarapa land. This is a great loss for the people of Igangan and indeed the Yoruba race”
“I am of the belief that history will be kind to Kabiesi, especially, for his role during the trying times when Igangan and the entire Ibarapa land became the haven of bandits and killer herdsmen.
However, I urge the Oyo state government not to relent in its efforts to ensure that the ancient town continue to enjoy peace and tranquility that had eluded them for years as a result of the protracted attacks by the bandits”
“God Almighty grants Kabiyesi’s soul eternal rest and the people he left behind the fortitude to bear this loss”, Adams said
The late Asigangan’s death brought to three, the death of prominent Yoruba monarchs in the last ten days.
The first was that of the late Soun of Ogbomoso,Oba Jimoh Oyewumi,
followed by that of the Olowu Of Owu Kingdom monarch,Oba Adegboyega Dosumu who joined his ancestors about a week ago.
