Operation Kósàyè, A joint task force composed of the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands intercepted the criminal hideouts after the suspects ambushed three vehicles near Ogbere, taking five travelers deep into the forest.
The Nigerian Police deployed advanced technology and drones to track the suspects. During the ensuing gun battle in the bush, four suspected kidnappers were killed.
The victims recounted that the Fulanis who abducted them had initially demanded a ₦70 million ransom, which they later reduced to ₦20 million during negotiations while keeping the captives out in the open without food or water.
Blessing who sustained minor injuries when the vehicles collided during the initial ambush an gunfire expressed overwhelming gratitude to the security forces.
She admitted that she had previously been a vocal critic of law enforcement but stated that, after witnessing the immense effort and bravery the officers displayed to save their lives in the forest, she would never speak against the Nigerian Police Force again.
