It was against that backdrop, with the team treading dangerously close to the relegation quicksands and so much evidence of broken-down professionalism it was almost a surprise Roman Abramovich did not reach for the eject button the morning after Mourinho emerged for what will now be remembered as his last press conference on Monday and lamented the possibility that maybe his players simply were not as brilliant at their jobs as he was at his own.

South Korean 'healing center' closes people in coffins to prevent suicide

SEOUL, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- A South Korean "healing center" is tackling the country's suicide problem by having people stage their own "funerals" and spend time locked in coffins.

The Hyowon Healing Center in Seoul, founded by former funeral director Jeong Yong-mun, features groups of people -- often those suffering from depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts -- being dressed in funeral regalia, photographed in the style of a picture found on a coffin and then being told to write final letters to their loved ones.

New research reveals secrets of spider web's signal thread

OXFORD, England, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Web-building spiders don't often bask in the glory of their creation. They hang out off-screen, keeping tabs on their arrangement via a special strand of silk fibers, a signal thread.

Until now, researchers weren't exactly sure how this communicative thread worked. New research out of the University of Oxford has offered insights into how the sector web spider uses its solitary signaling thread.
