‘My Sister Wasn’t Killed Over HIV’ — Family Demands Justice for Slain Enugu Woman
The family of Chinyere Susan Rosemary Ugwu, popularly known as ITCHINNYS Event Planner, has demanded justice following her alleged murder in Enugu State, while rejecting claims that her death was linked to an HIV-related dispute.
Rosemary was reportedly found dead after she was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, identified by police as 30-year-old Okpara Chibuike Emmanuel.
The Enugu State Police Command said the incident occurred on September 19, with Rosemary’s remains reportedly discovered concealed inside the suspect’s apartment at Olympic Layout, Enugu.
Police subsequently arrested the suspect and said investigations were underway, including an autopsy to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
However, Rosemary’s family has disputed reports suggesting that she was killed over an HIV-related disagreement.
Her sister, Kenechi Maryam, said the family has several unanswered questions about the circumstances surrounding Rosemary’s death, including the injuries reportedly found on her body and the account allegedly given by the suspect during questioning.
The family is therefore calling for a thorough and transparent investigation, insisting that the circumstances of Rosemary’s death must be established through evidence rather than speculation.
The relatives have also appealed to anyone with credible information, photographs or videos connected to the case to preserve the evidence and make it available to investigators.
Meanwhile, the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The family is also seeking legal support to ensure that the case is properly handled and that those responsible are brought before the appropriate authorities.
The circumstances surrounding Rosemary’s death remain subject to the ongoing police investigation, and claims about the motive should not be treated as established fact until investigators complete their work.
