You Might Not Know But Keeping These 7 Foods In The Refrigerator Can Be Harmful For Your Health

So many of us are not aware of the fact that there are few food items we can not refrigerate.

Here we have listed foods that you should not keep in the fridge and also where to keep them.

Onion
Never ever keep a peeled onion in the fridge because according to The National Onion Association in the US unpeeled onions require air exposure to maintain the shelf life, so it is advisable to keep them in open.

Whole Melons
According to The US Department of Agriculture (USDA)  watermelons lose their antioxidants (lycopene and beta-carotene) content when refrigerated. It is advisable to leave the whole melon outside refrigerator to maintain its antioxidants. Though you should keep the sliced melons covered in the fridge.

Galic
It is advisable to store garlic in a dry and dark place. If kept in fridge they can begin to sprout.

Potato
Potatoes should be kept in dark, cool and dry space, and also keep them unwashed in a well-ventilated cardboard box. If you wash potatoes before storing them they might decay because of excess moisture.

Honney
Storing in fridge can spoil its acidic pH and sugar content and can even cause crystallization, making it hard to spread. You should store honey in your cupboard for an indefinite period of time.

Apricots, Bananas, Kiwi, Peaches and Mangoes
These can be kept open in the kitchen until they ripen; they will retain nutrients better, says the Canadian Produce Marketing Association.

Coffee
Powdered coffee and beans need to be stored in airtight containers preferably in a dry and dark spot to retain the taste and freshness. You can freeze large amount which you won’t use immediately.
