Super Eagles legend Kanu's Enyimba sack youngest Nigerian coach after disastrous winless run

You are fired: Super Eagles legend Kanu's Enyimba sack youngest Nigerian coach after disastrous winless run

Nwankwo Kanu's Enyimba and their 32-year-old coach have gone their separate ways.

Enyimba FC, Nigeria's most successful football club, have parted ways with their 32-year-old head coach, Yemi Olanrewaju, following a dismal run of nine matches without a victory.

The People’s Elephant confirmed the news, expressing gratitude for Olanrewaju's contributions during his tenure in a short statement on their social media accounts.

“Enyimba FC can confirm that it has parted ways with head coach Yemi Olanrewaju. The club thanks Coach Olanrewaju for his services and wishes him the best in his future endeavours,” the statement read.

The Elephants, as they are affectionately known, are in crisis mode after failing to secure a win in their last nine outings across all competitions.

This alarming stretch has seen them tumble out of title contention, leaving both fans and management deeply concerned about the club's future.

Despite dominating several matches, Enyimba has been unable to translate their performance into wins, resulting in a staggering seven draws in their last nine games.

The mounting frustration among supporters and management led by Super Eagles legend Nwankwo Kanu has been palpable, as the team struggled to find the back of the net.

With a crucial home match against Bendel Insurance on the horizon, Enyimba must now rally together to reverse their fortunes and reignite their season.
