Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan
- Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, says she has survived two EFCC assassination plots on her life

- The wife of former president, Goodluck Jonathan, urges the House of Reps to come to her rescue before the anti-graft agency succeeds in its plot to kill her
- Patience also raises alarm over alleged intimidation by other agencies of the government like the Federal Inland Revenue Service Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has hired assassins to eliminate her.
Mrs Jonathan who made the allegations in a letter written to the House of Representatives said she had survived two assassination attempts on her life, the Punch reports. The wife of the former president, Goodluck Jonathan, pleaded with the lower chamber of the National Assembly to come to her rescue before the anti-graft agency succeeds in its plot to kill her.
According to the letter written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) & Co, Mrs Jonathan said the attempt at her life was made between February and April, 2017.
“There have been assassination attempts, at least twice, between February and April, 2017, against our client ostensibly by the operatives of the EFCC along the Yenagoa-Mbaima Road, Bayelsa State, in furtherance of its unlawful actions against the former first family,” the letter stated. Patience also alleged that the corruption fighting agency had bugged her phones and that its agents have been threatening her through text messages.

“The EFCC and its agents have repeatedly bugged the personal telephones of our client and her relations through its many operatives and has inundated her with numerous threatening calls and text messages,” the former president’s wife said. She also raised an alarm over being intimidated by other agencies of the government like the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Patience accused the officials of the FIRS of vandalizing her properties in her hotel located in Bayelsa state two months ago.

Mrs Jonathan said:"On May 3, 2017, officials of the FIRS, in a convoy of about 20 trucks and over 70 personnel, raided our client’s NGO – Aridolf Jo Resort Wellness and Spa Limited – situated at Kpansia Expressway, Bayelsa State, and orchestrated a massive destruction of personal properties belonging to our client without any lawful court order or search warrant and caused mayhem there under the guise of trying to collect unpaid taxes without following any due process provided by law to do so.”

However, the spokesman for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, has refused to react to the allegations levelled against the commission by Mrs. Jonathan when he was contacted on the telephone on Monday, July 10. Meanwhile, the National House of Representatives has shown its disinterest to support the Senate in the ongoing power tussle with presidency over Ibrahim Magu's nomination. Recall that NAIJ.com reported that there is crisis between the Senate and the presidency over the refusal of the presidency to remove EFCC acting chairman, Magu, and nominate someone else.

According to the source: “We are not on the same page with the Senate on what we see as an ego fight. The Speaker and his team have decided not to join the battle between the Senate and the presidency.
