Elton John |
The annual music festival, which runs for two weeks every September, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and has arguably one of the best line ups ever, featuring Britney Spears, Calvin Harris, The 1975, and Robbie Williams.
But there was only one person who could kick off two weeks of incredible music, and that’s Sir Elton.
Every single Elton hit is a sing-along song:
Don’t try to argue with us and tell us you don’t know the words.
From Goodbye Yellow Brick Road to Bennie And The Jets and Tiny Dancer, Elton can get an entire venue up on their feet and dancing and singing away within minutes, and not many artists can do that.
Instead the Rocket Man proved he was no diva by bringing out four guest performers to take to the stage during his show, allowing them to sing a song of their own and then join him on a hit track of Elton’s.
Rosie Lowe, Gallant, and Parker Millsap are all artists Elton discovered as a DJ on Apple Beats radio, and they were all absolutely amazing.
Christine and the Queens:
The French pop star has gained a cult following in the last 12 months, charting in the UK, touring the US, and even covering Beyonce’s Sorry for the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.
But it’s her visual performance as well as the music that is a joy to watch, and her stint on stage with Elton was bloody brilliant as she sang her hit single Tilted and then took it down a notch to belt out…
He can get people sat down stood up:
The Camden Roundhouse is a pretty small venue in comparison to other locations where a global superstar like Elton may play so is it any wonder that people are going to want to stay sat down when Elton is bashing out hit after hit and tinkling the ivories?
Elton is the epitome of feel good Sunday:
He may have closed the night with a rollicking good version of Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting) but it truly felt like a fell good Sunday as 1700 people streamed out, still belting out the songs we’d just heard an icon perform…
