The Head of South Africa’s diplomatic service has tweeted that South Africa Telecommunications CompanyMTN has settled the fine imposed by the Nigerians Communication Commission, NCC over unregistered sim cards.
CLAYSON MONYELA wrote on his twitter handle saying “MTN has agreed to pay 1.671 billion dollars over three years to settle its case in Nigeria, about a third of the 5.2 billion dollars it was originally fined. #Case settled.”
The settlement amounts to three billion naira at the current official exchange rate.
NCC had imposed the huge fine on MTN for with a deadline to disconnect all unregistered sim cards.
