The Premier League fixtures for the 2016-17 season were released on Wednesday morning. Kicking-off on the weekend commencing Saturday 13 August, the new campaign will begin with defending champions Leicester City facing a trip to play newly-promoted Hull City.
There’s also a London derby in store as new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and his team host West Ham United at Stamford Bridge. With two new managers in situ at both Manchester clubs, City’s Pep Guardiola has a home start as the Blues will play Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium and Jose Mourinho will take his United team to face AFC Bournemouth.
And another stand-out fixture on the opening weekend sees Arsenal against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium and all three promoted sides kick-off at home with Championship winners Burnley tackling Swansea City and Middlesbrough facing Stoke City. West Ham will have to wait a week before the Premier League’s newest venue is unveiled, when they play AFC Bournemouth at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford on Saturday 20 August.
Supporters in Manchester won’t have long to wait for their first derby match as United take on City at Old Trafford in the fourth game of the season on the weekend of 10 September. The first north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur comes on 5 November at the Emirates Stadium, whilst fans on Merseyside must wait until 17 December before Everton play Liverpool at Goodison Park and a first chance of local bragging rights.
