The Emir has also appointed the District Head of Dala, Alhaji Nasiru Bayero, to replace him as the new Chiroma.
Galadiman Kano and Senior Councillor in the Emirate, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, made available to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.
The statement said the former Chiroma, who was also the District Head of Gwale, was removed following his refusal to pay homage to the Emir since he was appointed on June 8, 2014.
“It is against the Sharia and the traditional institution for any district head and member of the Emirate Council to refuse to pay homage to the Emir.
“The former Chiroma was a district head and a member of the Emirate council, hence the decision to remove him”, it said.
The statement added that all district heads and other traditional rulers in the state had since paid homage to the Emir with the exception of the former Chiroma.
Meanwhile, Sanusi has attributed the spread of terrorism in the country to high incidence of corruption, ignorance and poverty.
The emir, who spoke at the Nigeria Security Exhibition and Conference in Abuja on Wednesday, said it would be difficult to wipe out terrorism without dealing with the root causes.
The emir, who was represented by a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police and the Katakan of Kano and District Head of Albasu, Alhaji Bashir Albasu, said it was important to deal with corruption and poverty as a permanent solution to terrorism.
He said, “Terrorism does not start from the air as there must be a breeding ground, which is ignorance, poverty, corruption and injustice.
“If government is fighting on the field like in Sambisa forest, it also must fight these root causes. There must be a purposeful programme to tackle corruption, which I know the present administration is doing to tackle ignorance, injustice and poverty.
“If this is done when a child is growing, he is sure of his future, his education and his job. He can get anywhere with his right. I maintain that unless this is done, it will take time to stamp out insurgency completely.”
He added, “Look at what happened about 30 years ago when Alhaji Shehu Shagari was in power. We had the Maitasine sect in Kano, which claimed over 10,000 lives. The military was used to quell the sect. No sooner than that, another sect emerged and today we are battling Boko Haram.
“This means that we just allow the tree to grow and we go and cut the branches without uprooting the roots. It also means that the tree will still grow again.”
He also berated security agencies for working in isolation and often in contradiction to each other.
