Mourinho, 53, is ready to wind up bitter rival Arsene Wenger by making the £50million-rated midfielder his first transfer target in the Prem.

Real Madrid 'did everything' to sign Man Utd keeper

Real Madrid say they did everything they could to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, after missing the deadline by two minutes.

The 24-year-old's £29m deal and that of Keylor Navas going the other way fell through with Real saying United took eight hours to reply to contracts.
Real have released a statement  explaining the timeline of events and it is not thought they will appeal.
