Directors of MDAs are among beneficiaries of a ‘cost management workshop’ on proper utilization of the nation’s resources organised by efficiency unit of the federal ministry of finance.
The workshop is expected to enable CEOs, permanent secretaries and directors of MDAs to key into the overall chain of cutting down the cost of overheads and personnel.

The workshop is in three phases and intended to integrate workers into the cost cutting drive of the federal government.
This second phase is targeted at directors of ministries, department and agencies of government.
Participants deliberated on downward regulation of expenses by MDAs in the budget and increase government’s savings for capital projects.
Speaking on behalf of the minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, permanent secretary federal ministry of finance, Mahmoud Isa-Dutse, said that government is resolved to ease Nigeria out of recession through cost management and savings.
Head of the e-unit Patience Oniha put estimated cost of overhauling the personnel and managerial expenditure at 15 billion Naira per annum.
She charged the directors of accounts in all MDAs to be watch dogs and collaborate with government to minimize wastage and save money that would be rolled back for infrastructural development.
The third phase of the workshop for all commissioners of finance from 36 states of the federation and FCT holds this Wednesday.
