Chelsea are set to receive a lump sum from UEFA thanks to their players' contributions at Euro 2024

For each major tournament, clubs from across the globe receive a remuneration package from either UEFA or FIFA for allowing their players to feature for their national teams. This summer's competition in Germany is no different with the Blues having five players picked for their countries.

Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher remain in the tournament with England as does Marc Cucurella who represents Spain. Unfortunately, Djordje Petrovic and Mykhailo Mudryk who represent Serbia and Ukraine were both knocked out of the group stages and have returned home

Ahead of the tournament, UEFA announced that the entire pot which is allocated to clubs has expanded from £110m for Euro 2020 to £119m for Euro 2024. Exact splits for each club will be announced after the tournament but based on Euro 2020's figures, clubs like Chelsea who are deemed 'Category 1' receive the top amount of £7,400 per player per day they are at the tournament.

These payments begin ten days before each country's opening group stage match and end the day after they are knocked out of the tournament. This means, Chelsea has already banked £310,000 for the involvement of Petrovic and Mudryk.

The figures for the remaining three players at the tournament are not set in stone. However, if both England and Spain are knocked out this weekend, Chelsea shall receive £473,000 for their Three Lions duo and £236,000 for Cucurella

In total, Chelsea shall receive approximately £1.02m at least from UEFA. Of course, should either England or Spain, or better yet both countries, progress out of the quarter-finals, that tally will continue to build.

For Enzo Maresca, this relatively modest sum of money will be welcomed as he attempts to finalise his plans for the summer transfer window
