The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, faced criticism for his prayer for Israel amidst its ongoing conflict with Palestine.
It is important to note that Israel initiated a military operation in the Gaza Strip following an unprecedented attack by the armed Palestinian group Hamas on Saturday.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which began five days ago, has resulted in a significant loss of lives and the displacement of many.
In the midst of this conflict, Pastor Adeboye turned to the micro-blogging platform, X, to offer his prayers and support to the predominantly Jewish country during these challenging times. He wrote, “It is my prayer for all our brethren in Israel that the Almighty will grant you absolute peace from now on in Jesus name. #Israel #peace.”
However, Pastor Adeboye’s solidarity with the Jewish community drew criticism from many Nigerians who pointed out that he did not show the same level of concern when conflicts arise within Nigeria.
