Manchester City has been a team of different wizards in soccer. But what sets it apart from other teams is its strength as a unit.
And one person who has added more power to the squad is one of the best strikers in the world, Erling Haaland. After his arrival, Manchester City achieved its mission of winning the Champions League with the treble. Even though he is the best European player of the last season, one Manchester United official still feels the need for Haaland to improve.
Things on one side may look very green, but one of City’s derby rivals are struggling to add any major trophy to their cabinet. With a similar approach to Haaland, Manchester United recently signed a striker in Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, to match City’s prowess. Funnily enough, even
names sound similar.
It is well known that Erling Haaland is a goal-scoring machine. With top midfielders like Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden to assist him, he is a severe threat to the best of the teams. But the forward can still improve in some areas, feels Manchester United’s first-team coach Benni McCarthy.
He said, “He’s still got loads of room for improvement. I observe and analyze a lot of attacking players, sometimes I just feel he can improve his game a bit, especially when defenders try to mark him out of the game.”
The Norwegian scored 54 goals in the last season, becoming the highest-scorer. But McCarthy, who was a forward himself, said that Halaand should adapt against stronger defenders. Haaland, the main threat to the opponents, would get more attention from them, making it considerably hard for him to score.
Despite being a prominent finisher, Halaand is not known for his dribbling skills, which can help a player navigate the defense.
