Bola Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State, has stated that his trip to the United Kingdom was not for medical reasons.
After a 10-day absence, the national head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) returned to Nigeria on Sunday.
On his social media channels, he made a brief remark. The public was informed on Monday morning that the trip was about the 2023 election.
The presidential candidate conducted "consultations with Nigerians and other stakeholders in the diaspora," according to the report.
"Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu pledged to keep consulting following his plan to run for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria," the statement stated.
Tinubu's abroad visits, which have been more regular in recent years, have alarmed a wide range of Nigerians.
Last year, the lawmaker spent nearly three months in London due to health reasons. President Muhammadu Buhari and other dignitaries paid him a visit.
According to Tinubu's media office, he had surgery on his right knee and underwent "rigorous post-surgical physiotherapy."
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, has taken an online publisher, Jackson Ude, to a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja for alleged libellous publication.
The minister joined the editor of the journal, Uduma Mba, as a second defendant in the complaint filed by his lawyer, Taofeek Yahaya.

General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Nigeria's ex-military head of state, has claimed that the country does not require "walking stick leaders," and that the younger generation should be given space and opportunity to run the country.
