Reverend David Memeh of the Foursquare Church in Benin, Edo State, has been killed by unknown gunmen. The 72-year-old cleric, who was killed at his Government Reservation Area residence in Benin City, was said to have been shot twice after his killers gained entry into his residence.
His wife, Deaconess Alice Memeh, said the gunmen did not take anything from their residence except for her phones and that of her late husband’s.
She said the killers entered their apartment through the window in her husband’s room and that they slapped him many times before they dragged and killed him. “We were only three at home and they overpowered us. My husband is dead. I will appreciate if government can arrest the killers,” she said tearfully. Spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, DSP Stephen Onwochei, confirmed the killing, saying investigation had commenced.
