Mario Gotze scored a dramatic winner in extra time, as Germany beat Argentina 1-0 to lift the World Cup.
The game between the two football powerhouses, was a repeat of the final in Italy 1990, when a late Andy Brehme penalty four minutes from time, won the cup for West Germany.
The game dragged on into extra time still goalless. With penalties looming, Andre Schurrle embarked on a fine run down the left and lifted the ball for Gotze. His control was superb and his finish was assured.
Germany becomes the first European nation to win the World Cup on South American soil.
