IN ÓRÉKÉ..Bandits Wreak Havoc in Kwara Community, Leaving Death and Destruction

A devastating attack by bandits has left a trail of sorrow and destruction in the Oreke-Okegbo community in Kwara State's Ifelodun Local Government Area.

On a fateful Thursday evening, the bandits, disguised in military uniforms, stormed the community at 7:00 p.m., unleashing terror and chaos.

The attack resulted in the tragic loss of one life, while another community member was left injured. According to eyewitnesses, the bandits encountered guards protecting Chinese nationals in the area and opened fire to achieve their sinister objectives.

According to Daily Post, Kabiyesi of Oreke, Oba Joseph Sunday Afolabi, confirmed the incident, revealing that the bandits, including a woman, spoke Hausa but were not believed to be herdsmen. Instead, he suspects they are foreign nationals from neighboring countries.

In a desperate bid to escape, the bandits got stuck at Awere River after Babanla town due to flooding and couldn't cross until the next morning. This brief reprieve did little to alleviate the community's trauma.

The Kwara State Police Command has swiftly responded to the incident, with spokesperson DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun confirming that investigations are underway to verify the information. The police assure that security measures are in place to safeguard the lives and properties of Kwara residents.

This brazen attack has sent shockwaves throughout the community, reigniting concerns about the growing threat of banditry in Kwara State. As the police work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice, the people of Oreke-Okegbo community mourn the loss of life and demand greater protection from the authorities.
