BREAKING: Tinubu Appoints Egbuwalo as NSIPA Coordinator After Suspending Halima Shehu

Akindele Egbuwalo, previously the National N-POWER Programme Manager, has been named the interim CEO 

This follows the President's endorsement of Halima Shehu's suspension from her role as NSIPA boss 

President Tinubu also authorised a thorough investigation into Halima's activities during her tenure as NSIPA boss.


FCT, Abuja - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has consented to suspend Dr Halima Shehu from her role as the new national coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), citing accusations of financial misconduct. 

The president has directed a thorough inquiry into the accusations levelled against Halima Shehu. 

Dr Akindele Egbuwalo, formerly the national coordinator of the N-Power program, has been appointed to a new position effective immediately. 

How is Halima Shehu before NSIPA? 

Before Halima's suspension in 2010, and served as a Senior Special Assistant to former Katsina State governor Ibrahim Shema in 2011. She also contributed her expertise as a state's Internal Revenue Board member. In 2016, Shehu expanded her horizons by accepting a temporary role as a presidential election observer in Cape Verde under the Economic Community of West African Countries. 

Subsequently, from 2017 to 2022, she brought her wealth of experience to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development. 


In 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu warned ministers in his cabinet that their positions could be at risk if they fail to meet performance expectations. President Tinubu conveyed this message during a three-day cabinet retreat in Abuja on November 1. He emphasised that hard-working ministers need not be concerned about job security, as their roles are assured and protected.

Meanwhile, President Tinubu has dismissed the top officials leading the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency in the latest development.
