The Special Tactical Squad attached to Operation Absolute Sanity, arrested some gangs responsible for several kidnappings/armed robbery, cattle rustling and car snatching along the Abuja-Suleja-Bida-Minna highway.
We gathered that most of the suspects were arrested in the act after exchange of gun fire with the personnel of the IGP Special Tactical Squad attached to Operation Absolute Sanity in their hideouts along Abuja-Minna road.
Three victims of the gangs were also rescued from their captivities and have since been reunited with their families.
According to police spokesman, CP Jimoh Moshood, the suspects confessed and admitted the various criminal roles they played in the committing of the crimes. Investigation is however ongoing to arrest other members of the gangs at large as those in police custody will be arraigned in court for prosecution on completion of investigation.
The police called on members of the public that their vehicles were snatched or removed from where parked to go to Niger state police command headquarters for identification and collection.
