The Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory has expressed dismay over the alleged seizure of over 400 plots of land by the Nigerian Army without notifying the allottees or the FCT Minister, MOHAMMED BELLO.
Chairman of the committee, Senator DINO MELAYE expressed his dissatisfaction in Abuja, at a meeting with officials of FCTA and the Nigerian Army over unconstitutional acquisition of 238 hectares of land in Maitama Extension.
He said the incident was brought to the committee’s notice through a petition from members of the public.
Senator MELAYE noted that the Certificate of Occupancy and approved building plans have been issued to most allotees, most of whom have either commenced construction or completed their buildings.
